The management of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) have announced the suspension of the newly introduced certificate processing fee.
In an announcement signed by the Registrar of the institution, J. U. Nnabuihe, released on Saturday, the suspension is to allow ample time for consultation with all relevant stakeholders.
He said the decision was reached at the 51st Extra-Ordinary Meeting of the school’s management held on Thursday, August 13, 2020.
The statement read in part, “Management decided to suspend the introduction of enhanced security features on our degree certificates as well as the introduction of Certificate Processing Fee.”
Recall that there was an uproar in the university community when it was announced that all graduates from 2019/2020 graduating set who are yet to be issued the new improved certificates will pay the processing fee of N20,000 subject to review as the need arises.
