New Policy: JAMB Re-Assigns Post Utme Candidates to Other Universities

Earlier yesterday, we got an information that the University of Lagos, while announcing her 2015 Post Utme details, claimed that there is a new JAMB policy whereby candidates of the most sought-after universities in the 2015 JAMB UTME are reassigned to other universities with lower number of candidates than their capacities. Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike also published a similar notice.

According to the notice, JAMB registrar, Professor Dibu Ojerinde stated that the new policy portends two benefits:
1) It will be beneficial to “needy Universities” that is universities with lower number of candidates than their capacities, as this will ensure that these universities will have more candidates to admit.
2) Candidates will have better chances for admission in the universities they are re-assigned to, contrary to situations where they would await admission in the universities of their first choices until the admission exercise closes and they forfeit admission in that session.

What this means is that even some candidates who scored 200 or above but chose universities with surplus applicants may be re-assigned to other universities with lesser number of aspirants.

How this new policy will affect the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), which is among the top 10 most sought after universities, is yet to be known at the time of this report. We will wait for an official announcement from the school authorities in the nearest possible time.

In the meantime, we advise that you just keep calm and read your books.

Best Wishes…
The Unn Info Team.

  • this is to express my heart felt hatred towards jamb. I’m a student in delta state, scored 243 in my jamb. UNIBEN is my choice of school, even wrote d post ume in UNIBEN n made my proposed departments’ cut of mark. Admission has began in UNIBEN I decided to check my admission status. it read “Sorry, no admission given yet” then just today I just tot of checking my ADMISSION destination, my brothers n sisters guess what i found out. that I was posted to Federal University of Technology, Minna for admission considerations. From Delta state to Niger, Minna , isn’t that wickedness? God will definitely punish those wicked n foolish jamb officials

  • Federal Government reversed the Joint Admissions and
Matriculation Board new admission policy that sparked off
protests in parts of the country. Henceforth, all the students
that made the cut-off marks have been told to go and write
post-UME examinations in their schools of first choice. No
more Re-Assignment (JAMB newly introduced vernacular).
The decisions reached at the Joint Admissions and
Matriculation Board 2015 admission policy have been
    overruled by the Federal Government.
JAMB adopted a policy whereby candidates of universities with
surplus applicants for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation
Examinations are reassigned to other universities with lower
number of applicants than their capacities.
    The Good News!
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. MacJohn
Nwaobiala, said “This JAMB thing has been there. As the policy
making body, when these issues were raised, they raised in a
stakeholders meeting. We normally have what we call the policy
meeting. Everything about admission are discussed with parents
and other stakeholders at the meeting.
“These are decisions that we collectively took. However, we
have a listening hear. We have taken a lot of the issues raised
into consideration and we are consulting to see the adjustments
we can make here and there.
“The directive has been given. All the students that made the
cut-off marks have been told to go and write post-UME
examinations in their schools of first choice. After, they can go
to their schools of second choice. That has been the bone of
    contention.”

    How true is this?

  • This new policy. Established. By jamb is a good idea but on the other hand also a bad idea…. The new jamb system has Affected many nigerian candidtes seeking addmision into universities nd this willl lead to large amount of candidates not taking the examinations of the school they where been posted to due to some reasons listed below………………………… 1.LACK OF PREPARATION:Students who hve been preparing for four subjects for their post utme examinations eg students hu chose unn s their choice. Normally would write the four subjekts they took in jamb eg a medical. Student hus subjekts are bio phy chem nd eng, thus wen posted to anoda school wia ae do maths. General pper engish…..wah do u expect the candidate to deliver which simply makes it a wasted effort and a waste of time…………..2.the issue of the crisis in the norrth. For even wia indigenes of the north are. Seeking for refuge in the souuth will lso be prt of the place wi stuents will be posted. Too I kall that loss of lives because the federal govt hsnt provided a solution to the disaster because of. A reason unknown………. I pleade with the. Jmb officials. To sit and rethink over this. Matter. Before making it publik…..or if it must be done, the timing was wrong jamb officils shoul have infomed candidates before the jamb exms so they will know their next move……….I’ve noticed so many tears been shed. Jes because of this case imagine. Student. Hu sored 256 wasn’t allowed to write post jmb. Pleas. Federal govt is this the smile u want to put on the faces of the youth

  • How can they do such thing now, why didn’t they do this since, they are looking for the students to frustrate. Some might relax not knowing they have been re-assigned & this might cost them their admission. While others might be re-assigned to far places like the northern part. & how come is UNN cutting 200 I taught JAMB said is 180 for all Universities. But anyway God will see Us through.

  • I think Nigeria is a big country, Dibu Ojerinde is trying to help us all, especially those students that are, desperate to enter into the University by all means, I think is there opportunity, but where I am criticising Jamb is that they took us unawares, no sensitization, my advice to us all, UNN Is the only University, galvanise ur minds, look forward unto the future, I believe If you can score high this yr, Jamb will re-assign u to a better University, remember there is no more time, do ur studies always, do not relent. Even those that are eligible for unn exam are not saved there is still a Competition for everyone, so rejoice, God is in Control,,,,

    Reply
  • I love this info but it is important that jamb make this re-assignment public so that candidates will not failure to perform as a result of another person’s impromptu policy. And this should be as quick as possible because some universities have started registration so that the affected candidates will not be misled. Thanks!
