SUSPENSION OF SCHOOL OF POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES IN THE UNN
In view of the on-going impasse resulting in the undue postgraduate restiveness, Management has directed IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION of all postgraduate programmes indefinitely till further notice.
Postgraduate students in then PG Hostels are directed to VACATE THE PG HOSTELS NOT LATER THAN 6 PM TODAY, Friday January 16, 2015.
All concerned should please comply to avoid unpleasant consequences.

Tony, run back 2 school as fast as u can. Lectures in our Dept have long begun and we are almost rounding up with seminars. Fees are being paid down here(school fees and accommodation). Don’t know abt deadline or part payment

Have u paid the fees? If yes, go to UNN website, click on. PG Portal and Login as New student. Use ur Form No. Eg(11939) As user name and pgunn as password. When u access d page. I have forgotten somesteps, not with my Laptop now, but Go to pay my fees and input ur comfirmation order No and other details etc.

Is quite unfortunate we ended up wasting a semester. I remember i called d attention of us d new pg students on dis matter to see hw we can organized ourselves on our involvement in d protest, many on dis rendered insults on me. Nw we’ve lost a complete semester, and yet we are nt benefittin anytin. It was jst yesterdy dt i discovered, dat d papillo led pg protesting students was nt a recognized body, rather thy were jst bunch of aggrieved continuing pg student.

Hello, this is to inform all PGD Marketing students that academic activities had long begun.
Matter of fact, those that have paid their school fees and applied for hostel have been allocated their rooms.
Also, those interested in hostel accommodation should should pay their fees and apply, as rooms are almost filled.
I therefore encourage all concerned to come to school ASAP to see things for themselves; as any further delay could be disastrous.

D sch considers dis significant and wud nt want any refunds. As a result. I met with stakeholders in d is fight and most Hall govt officials including d hall governor today and he said d same thin. He advised us to go ahead wit payments since most of us hav already paid as d PG sch argued.
As a result of dis only d returnin student wil benefit for now in our struggle. It pains me d most bcos i and many oda new students went tru evry pain and struggle all d way up on to dis point to see only d returnin student benefiting from it and the time wasted. Bt b dat as it may, ders no qualmz. We’re all brodas and sisters.
I encourage us NEW students to make d necessary payments as soon as possible so as to kick start our respective programs.

If you’re serious just come down to nsuka and pay your school fee before you pay for hostel accommodation and forget about reduction of fee, that’s if you have the money but if you don’t have it wait till they effect it. I actually met the hostel governor yesterday and he ask me wether I have paid school fee I told him yes. It’s N116,500 for social science and he did not say anything mean while some say they will effect the change/reduction this week but others are paying now because they need accommodation and I support them.

@didee. I strongly believe that something will definitely be done concerning those who paid 125k. It may not be by cash refund but it may be through another pathway probably next session. Therefore I advise those who paid 125k to keep all your payment records saf coz I strongly believe that there will be refunds(that is if the reduction is also for new students) though I doubt if its gonna be in cash. So do not put yourselves into worries.

just to clear d air that d fee reduction is both for NEW and RETURNING students. do not allow anyone deceive u as to joining him or her to pay 125k. when d invoice on d portal has been updated u`ll see it. be patient.

You are not the only one regretting this. I used to place UNN in high rank before now. I guess that was an illussion.. Process of admission ad registration fo almost one year noW. Oh!! What a disaster. What a shame on school of such prestige. From March 2014 to almost March 2015. Aftre reduction I the hiked school fee, getting it updated on thhe system will take “till thy kingdom come” I need not say much. But anyway thanks to those that represented us.

Kudos to all those that joined in d good fight of faith. I am a little bit bewildered at what I saw. I generated my invoice in the morning and I saw 125000. this afternoon, i checked again and what I saw was 24,960. What is happening? Is anyone here with similar experience?
@love I think its too early to check/print out an invoice. I suggest we should all wait for the official communication/information from the University authority for onward/further directives on the harmonized issues. am like @didee gave us a prior information for the purpose of clarifications. So lets put our fingers crossed probably by tomorrow morning the new hostel/tuition fee will be on the net.

The accommodation fee was 35k before but now it is 30k…another reduction. But this fee is for UNN students only coz UNEC has a different fee….probably coz their hostel almost delapidated.

Those who paid earlier before now will neither be refounded nor asked to add up to the one already paid.
@freeze; how can u expect an agreement dat was reached abt 3hrs ago to immediately b implemented on ur sch fee invoice in a slow system. Dere are due processes. If u cant b patient for d new fees to b updated in d invoice, i guess u can go ahead and pay d 125k. No one stops u at dis point

dis is also to inform NEW STUDENTS dat Matric or Reg No is now online. loggin to d pg portal to view ur respective matric number. also 2nd supplementary list is out, for dose clamouring for it. den finally, d hostel invoice is online. d same format used in printin sch fee invoice will b used to print d hostel fee invoice. and payments can b made in d banks.

Outcome has it dat our able delegates have represented and bargained well for us.
D VC has approved a new sch fee of 90k region for non science courses and 100k region for science courses. Signalling a further 20k reduction or more.
Ur new fees wil reflect on ur invoices any moment from tomro. Der wud also b a revised academic calendar to cover for lost time. And an official notice to formally lift d suspension.

The VC and pg board management has finally called d pg hall govt and delegates for final delibrations on sch fee and oda matas today. Lets keep prayin for both parties to reach a decisive and favourable condition soonest. and hope dis mata is finally resolved dis week so we can commence sch activities in earnest.

WILL NO LONGER JOIN THE UNDERGRADS IN THE MATRICULATION DUE TO SOME LOGISTIC REASONS…. A FURTHER DATE WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN DUE COURSE….. Please what do you think it means? Lets be patient and be fervent in prayers cause the heart of a ruler is in God’s hands…. At the appropriate time, He will answer us and that time IS NOW…. JUST PRAY AND BELIEVE…. @ Edna …u are in deed dreaming. Some departments in UNEC have started lectures in full. So stop consoling urself. As a mata if fact don’t be surprise if nothing is done about d fees coz pple are generating invoice and it is still the same amount with additional 300naira as bank charges.two hostel lists are already bout in UNEC.I haven’t paid yet but I fear our brothers might have fought for us in vain.

My enquiry concerning the much fuss about the de-suspension of the PG programmes and resumption of academic activities reveals that nothing of the like has happened.Put mildly,and frankly too,the issue that occasioned the protests by PG students and the attendant suspension is presently being looked into for possible resolution.It is only after then that lectures and all other things will start in earnest at both Nsukka and UNEC.
i’m equally tired of all these info on lecture commnencement and all of that. it does’t sound rational that no formal lift of the suspension has been made yet lectures are said to be on. i don’t get it at all. Hi Austeen. I was delighted on seeing your post on this page. With a first degree in Anatomy from the University of portharcourt ,I thought it would be ok and favourable to pursue a masters in same field but this time in another institution..I considered unn because accommodation wouldn’t b an issue for me as my parents resides here in Enugu metropolis and the department of Anatomy as I learnt takes their lectures in UNEC.
There is this saying that what one don’t know is greater than him. I am not conversant with Unn nor its postgraduate program. I wasn’t comfortable when I learnt about the news of the postgraduate program suspension due to d protest of school fee increment.
From the comments and post of those directly affected,I sensed regret in d tune of their voice for ever choosing unn.I also realised that the school have issue when it comes to information dissemination. for instance,the lift of d suspension isn’t online but u hear that lectures have commenced..

For ur info,I just applied on Friday at UNEC for hostel.if u use ur acceptance fee receipt and admission letter, it will still be accepted as the payment platform was suspended in banks.asba matter of faxt some names are out already since hostels are now given out on “first come first serve basis” and no longer on ballot basis. d information regarding hostel accomodation was pastel at d PG hostels since 27th jan. To take effect from mon feb 2. Its from d student affairs division and it is stated on first com first serve basis. As to how much d accomodation wil cost is yet to b known. When i read some peoples comment i wonder if they obtained first degree. Most information giving here are misleading. Some who make the comments dont even know where the institution is situated. they tell people they have applied for hostel and lectures are going on. Dont fool yourselves. I stay at nsukka and i go to unn almost everyday. People like them are people that spend over 5 years running thier Msc programme, dont be in a haste as everything is been put to place. @Nellie, your idea is very good. We actually wanted to start on time and graduate on time but what of accommodation? Not all the students would like to stay off camp. If the sch management can allow us to pay for the hostel and then provide the accommodation while waiting for d school fees issue to be resolved that would have been very o.k, but can they? How can one go about ones lecture without having a place to keep ones belongings and to lay onez head @ d end of d day.

Those there are the old students who are working on their projects. Students in Odili hostel have general fasting and prayer today because of the problem others had theirs three days ago. The PG school and VC knows what they are doing…..Suspending PG program for 2months is enough for we new students to pay school fees next year….unlike UI where u pay a one off fee even if you want to spend 4yrs for your PG program…I just pray its resolved soon by our UNN PG seniors…maximum of 90-95k is fair if resolved….

What are you trying to do. This issue is for old and new students. There is already a spokesman for all pg students (papilo) and pg hall governor who is fully recognized by the Vc and Unn community. You must work with the old students to fight this battle. I’m a new student and can never disassociate myself from them. This is joint battle. The sch fees must be reduced. The status-quo (the current impasse between the postgraduate students and the university administration) is quite pathetic.. There ought to be a steadier approach to fees increment. I urge the Postgraduate students body to seek other partners to help end this unnecessary situation.

You can’t compare UI, UNILAG to UNN. D standard of education in those skls is higher compare 2 UNN. Is’t in infrastructure, practical, research etc, unn is really lacking. 2009, During my undergraduate days, we fought hard n stopped Bartho (V.C) frm increasing d skl fees. Now (our generation) d undergraduates r enjoying our sweat, pain,fight n protest. After d protest d skl wz shut down for some wks n d issue wz resolved. Why can’t we d pg student join hands 2gether n fight 4 dis? It is not jst 4 our own sake but 4 d sake of our generation (incoming pg’s). For d sake of many dat r frm poor background dat can’t afford 4 d fees. Unn is a federal university 4 god sake. Hw much is unizik n other federal univ paying. Let us arise n fight 4 dis. Am not againt increment in fees but dis one is too much. Let us not give up.
