Senator Ike Ekweremadu gets honorary degree as UNN graduates 15,904

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) will confer an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree on Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, on Saturday, January 24th, 2015.

The honorary degree will be conferred on Ekweremadu during the university’s convocation ceremony in Nsukka the same day.

The award was conveyed to him in a letter signed by the university’s Registrar, Anthony Okonta, according to Ekweremadu’s Media Adviser, Mr. Uche Anichukwu.

The letter read in part: “I have the pleasure to inform you that the Senate of the University of Nigeria has approved that you be awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws (LL.D) (Honoris Causa).

“The Governing Council of the University has also approved the award.”

Also, the University will at its 44th convocation, which started Monday (19th January,2015), graduate 15,904 students.

This was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba at a pre-convocation press conference held at the Enugu campus of the university.

He disclosed that out of the number of graduating students, those who did post-graduate and diploma studies constituted 1,676, made up of 331 Ph.Ds; 1,168 and 177 post-graduate diplomas with first Degree programme accounting for 14,015 students and diploma 213 students.

Prof. Ozumba recalled that he had enunciated his five-year development plan including staff welfare, students’ welfare, environment and campus aesthetics, academic leadership and research and academic discipline, pointing out that steady progress had been made on all fronts.

The vice chancellor also disclosed that four eminent Nigerians had been selected for award and conferment of honorary degrees, including Professors P. N. Okeke of the National Centre for Basic Space Science and Paul Iwe Akubue.

  • V.C Please, How much did he pay for his school fees like other PG students that you just increase their fees more than 100% or is it FOC. V.C there is God OOOO and God is watching you.
