The Senate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), held a special senate session in honour of the 5th Vice-Chancellor of the University, Late Emeritus Professor James O.C. Ezeilo, who died recently.

Late Professor Ezeilo served as the acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, from 1970 – April 1971 and as the 5th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University from October 1975 to October 1978

Addressing the Senate, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof.  Bartho Okolo, described the late Vice-chancellor as a man of great intellect, whose contributions were still visible in the University

“Without doubt, the passing of Professor Ezeilo will leave a void in our hearts and in the University, while he will still be revered as a great academic and an astute administrator.

“All those who knew Professor Ezeilo will continue to attest that he was a good fellow with a great intellect and a very big heart. Here lies a man who led our University with boundless enthusiasm, his accomplishments are still very visible and his untarnished leadership records leave with us an example to follow”, he said.

Prof. Okolo added that the success recorded by the late Vice-Chancellor during his tenure, was as a result of his unwavering commitment to ethics and his philosophy of integrity. He therefore prayed God to grant the soul of the deceased an everlasting peace.
