ABSU Gets NUC Accreditation for 9 Courses.

Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu have gotten full accreditation in nine out of the eleven programmes it presented for accreditation to the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2019, while two (2) programmes were interim.

The accredited programmes are Law, Mass Communication, Library and Information Science, Agriculture, Political Science, Surveying and Geo-informatics, Geography and Planning, Social Studies and Education Management and Planning with Economics and Education/Fine and Applied Arts getting interim accreditation.

The NUC has the statutory mandate to accredit academic programmes in all Nigerian Universities, with full accreditation status valid for a period of five years, while interim accreditation status is valid for two years, after which the programme will be revisited.

In his reaction, the ABSU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Uche Ikonne, thanked the Governor and Visitor to the University, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu for his Magnanimity, moral and financial support that ensured the success of this exercise.

He also appreciates the Governing Authorities of the University, Staff and Students for their cooperation.

It will be recalled that Abia State University has never lost any academic programme since the inception of the Professor E. Uche Ikonne led University Administration with the University being ranked very highly in the comity of Universities in Nigeria.
