The new salary structure for Para-military personnel in Nigeria the Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure (CONPASS), which sees an increase in basic salary and allowances for Nigerian Prison officers and all Para-military organizations.

The head of the NPS is the Controller-General of the Nigerian Prisons Service. He is assisted by six (6) Deputy Controllers-General (DCGs) who head the six broad administrative divisions called Directorates into which the Service is broken for efficient management.
