The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has withheld the results of over 80,000 candidates who sat for the recently concluded 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.
According to the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, who disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja, the results were withheld for various reasons cases of exam malpractices.
He also said there were about 3, 811 candidates who registered late for the examination with findings revealing that more than half of then had earlier registered.
Oloyede noted that the results were released within the 24 hours of each examination in compliance with their promise to deliver the results in a timely manner.
He said: “So far, we have released 1,606,901 results leaving us with a balance of 80,889 and out of which we have deliberately withheld 76,123 because of examination malpractices.
“Let me say that we released the results within 24 hours but if it is left for me I would have withheld the result until we clear all outstanding issues.”
“However, I want to announce to you ahead of time that if I am in charge by next year, I will not release the results immediately until all the issues are resolved,” he stressed.
Speaking further, the JAMB boss said they would ensure that all candidates whose results were withheld after verification are released before the next academic session.
Oloyede lamented the widespread examination malpractices across the country aided by parents, teachers and Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBT) centres.

Please Sir I am begging you with the name of the lord please release our result please. Do not judge based on what others did. There are innocent souls which am one of those who took exam at Benchmark without malpractice. I was even sick the day i took my exam but i managed to write it, i forced my self crying in the hall because of the pains i was having so seeing that my result is one among the cancelled is paining severally because i do not even know what to do at this time. Sir please do not neglect my cry, Take it as when your son is asking you for something.

I Wrote my examination at kemade high flyers Academy at osun state…… Bt I haven’t seen my result…. It is about 3weeks almost a month now….. I am not involved in any form of malpractice, and if my result should be seize just like that, i will never forgive anybody involved in seizing my result. And Allah will judge me and any other person involved in seizing my result.

I see a little or no relevant reason why JAMB should not release these results. I clearly suggest that if JAMB should withhold these results, those who were among them, though they wrote their exam faithfully without any form of malpractice, would be denied of their merited opportunity of gaining admission into higher institution this year.
More so, I am viewing this issue as a selfish decision and partiality on the side of JAMB board, if they should finally stick to their decision. Therefore, if I should suggest, let all the results released be cancelled, or let the issue of all kinds of rectification be postponed till next year academic session.
Besides there are faithful ones among them; as there are equally unfaithful ones among those whom theirs were released. So, if JAMB should embark on this decision, those citizens of this country are being denied of their fundamental and inalienable right. This is indirectly working against the constitution of Nigeria federation.
Federal Character (FCh) states that every Nigerian that wishes to apply for admission into universities for professional knowledge, should be granted of it, if the individual was able to fulfil the necessary conditions adopted. So, if we should justify this case in this way, our Federal Character is disrespected widely — then: ‘where is our Federal Character?’

I sat for the jamb on the 17th of may,2017 in IMO state, I wrote the exam With no help from any individuals or groups except GOD.
After sleepless nights and studying hard, I wrote the jamb.
I have never and will never engage in any form of exam malpractice .

He promised to release the result before the next academic session? So I should wait for that? Could I have seen the wrong option and still choose it? This man is definitely mad! Scoring 330+ was what I expected but when I saw the question, I was even scared because I could score more than that. Let this useless man give others like me our results; if not, I reserve my comments.
