How to Apply for Visa Lottery 2018:

The U.S. Embassy announces the opening of the 2019 Diversity Visa Lottery Program (DV-2019). Often called the “Green Card Lottery,” DV-2019 is the only official lottery program for immigrant visas to the United States.  Registration began at noon Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, and ends at noon EDT on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. There is no fee to apply.

This annual U.S. government-sponsored program makes more than 50,000 immigrant visas available worldwide to persons from countries, including Trinidad and Tobago, with lower rates of immigration to the United States.

The application process is free and program requirements are simple, but strict. Most notably, applicants must have the equivalent of a U.S. high school degree or work experience in a job that requires at least two years of formal training. (Information about qualifying job experience can be found at the website listed below.) Applicants who apply for a Diversity Visa but do not have the required education or training experience will not qualify to immigrate to the U.S. Applicants should check the requirements at www.dvlottery.state.gov to make sure they qualify before applying.

All applications must be submitted electronically. Applicants may apply at www.dvlottery.state.gov anytime during the registration period and are strongly encouraged not to wait until the last week of the registration period to enter, as heavy demand may result in website delays. No entries will be accepted after noon on November 7, 2017.

There is no fee to apply. Winners (only) of the Diversity Visa lottery pay a fee directly to the U.S. Embassy on the day of their visa interview. When registering for the lottery, applicants must print and save their confirmation page with their unique confirmation code in order to check the status of their entry. Applicants must take care to keep this page; the Embassy cannot replace this confirmation code.

Beginning May1, 2018, DV-2019 entrants will be able to use their unique confirmation number to see if their entry was selected via the online Entrant Status Check website at www.dvlottery.state.gov. Successful entrants will receive instructions for how to apply for immigrant visas for themselves and their eligible family members. Confirmation of visa interview appointments will also be made through Entrant Status Check. All entrants should keep their confirmation number until September 30, 2019, whether they are initially selected or not. Applicants will not receive notification letters by mail, email or phone. It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to check the website for notification of lottery selection.

Diversity Visa applicants are advised to remain vigilant for fraudulent emails, websites, and letters claiming to be part of the application process. These are used by scammers posing as the U.S. Government in an attempt to extract money. Applicants are asked to report any instances of fraud related to the DV Lottery to consularpos@state.gov. Applicants are reminded that there is no fee to apply for Diversity Visas, and the U.S. Government does not request any payments via email or letter.

2018 Entrant Status Check:

DV-2018 Entrants may enter their confirmation information through the following link: www.dvlottery.state.gov starting at noon (EDT) on May 2, 2017. The DV-2018 registration period opens on October 4, 2016, and closes on November 7, 2016. DV-2018 Entrants should keep their confirmation number until at least September 30, 2018.

2017 Entrant Status Check:

DV-2017 Entrants (those who entered the DV lottery between October 1, 2015 and November 3, 2015) have until September 30, 2017 to check the status of their entry through this website: www.dvlottery.state.gov. The DV-2017 registration period was from October 1, 2015, until November 3, 2015.
