The 36th Matriculation ceremony of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) took place on Friday 24th March 2017.
Speaking at the event held at the University campus in Agbani, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Luke Anike, urged the newly admitted students to shun malpractice and indiscipline in their academic pursuits.
He said the institution was known for its uncompromising and sustained policy of zero tolerance for exam malpractice and academic dishonesty.
“Examination malpractice is viewed with utmost seriousness here in ESUT and the consequences are grave”, he noted.
The vice chancellor added that the management of the institution also had zero tolerance for indiscipline and cultism.
“You are warned about the grave consequences of indulging in indiscipline and cultism, which include expulsion and criminal prosecution.
“The university will not condone actions which contravene its regulations or behaviours that portray the image of the university in a bad light”, he said.
On academic excellence, Anike said the management had begun a programme aimed at encouraging and rewarding excellence in teaching and research among academic staff.
