International Biotechnology conference To Hold in UNN February 4th to 8th, 2013
The International Scientific Board for the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN Biotechnology centre will have its inaugural meeting and scientific session as from:
Date: Monday, February 4, 2013 to Friday , February 8, 2013
Venue: Nsukka campus of the University.
According to a statement signed by the co-ordinator of UNN UNESCO Biotechnologgy centre Project, Professor Jerry O Ugwuanyi, “the one (1) scientific session on the 7th of February 2013 will bring together stakeholders and experts in Biotechnology from the region and beyond to discuss critical issues of food security and tropical disease research in Africa.”
The keynote speaker will be Professor M. Nalecz, Director Basic Sciences and the Executive Secretary of the International Basic Science Programme IBSP at the Paris headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, UNESCO.
It will be recalled that the board of UNESCO approved and ratified the agreement for the establishment of Category 11 Biotechnology centre at the University of Nigeria in October 2012. The agreement has since been endorsed by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
