University of Nigeria Secondary School wins NAFDAC consumer safety club competition

The University of Nigeria Secondary School, Enugu Campus, has emerged champion in this years’ annual Consumer Safety Club Competition, organized by the National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC.
In the competition, which featured 30 secondary schools in Enugu State, Obasi Nnamdi, who represented the University of Nigeria Secondary School clinched the first position, whereas Odo Chinyere and Ugwudinso Kingsley of Providence High School Enugu and Spring of Life International School Enugu, respectively, took the second and third position.
In the junior categories, Nwosu Onyedika of the Providence High School took the first position, while Ogodo N. Blessing and Chijioke Ogemdi of Airforce Comprehensive Secondary School Agbani and the Spring of Life International School Enugu respectively, took the second and third position.
In a speech at the event, which was held at the College of Immaculate Conception (CIC) Enugu, the Director General of the NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii said that the aim of the competition among members of the club were to create a platform for students to help NAFDAC in carrying out the message of safeguarding the health of the nation.
The NAFDAC DG, represented by the Enugu State coordinator of NAFDAC consumer safety club, Mr. Emeka Orijiaka added that this would help in achieving zero tolerance against fake and counterfeit drugs in the country.
He stressed that such competition would help in educational transformation as well as creating awareness on the dangers of fake and unwholesome products.
He maintained that the programme would continue to sanitize the students on the negative effects of drug abuse on the health of the people and the danger of fake, adulterated and unwholesome products in the country.
The competition took place simultaneously across the five states of the South-East zone.
