ASUU, FG Schedule Another Meeting for November 20.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Nigerian Ministry of Labour and Employment has disclosed that the Federal Government will resume its meeting with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Friday, 20th November 2020 to find ways of resolving the issues raised by the lecturers for them to call of their over seven months strike action.<\/p>\n

The Ministry’s Spokesman, Charles Akpan, who made the known of Wednesday night, said the meeting with the union leaders will hold at the minister\u2019s conference hall at the ministry’s headquarters.<\/p>\n

He said the parley is expected to address various pending issues, including the contentious payment platform preferred by the union.<\/p>\n

Recalled that ASUU had opposed the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS)used in settling workers\u2019 salaries by the FG and instead, developed the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) which is currently undergoing test-run by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).<\/p>\n

The government on their part said it had agreed to pay N30 billion Earned Academic Allowance, N20 billion for the revitalization of the education sector and the arrears of salaries to the university teachers, adding that the only outstanding issue was the disagreement over the payment platform.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"… (0
