<\/p>\nThe Neco history answer 2023 is here. The National Examination Council, NECO History paper will be taken on Wednesday 12th July 2023 from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. The paper is for the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).<\/p>\n
In this post, we will be posting the Neco history questions for candidates that will participate in the examination. Note that below is the questions from NECO history past questions and answers that we feel are likely questions for exam preparation.<\/p>\n

PAPER-II [Essay]<\/strong> 1. In what five ways was Borno influenced by its trade with North Africa? 2. (a) List any three centres of ironworks in pre-colonial Nigeria. 3. Highlight any five ways by which the people of Nigeria evaded enslavement during the period of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. 4. (a) Identify any three emirates that were under the influence of the Sokoto Caliphate. 5. (a) Name the three explorers who traveled across the Sahara Desert during their expedition in the 19th century. 6. In what five ways did the people of Nigeria resist the British conquest?<\/p>\n 7. (a) Name any three British consuls in Nigeria up to 1900. 8. Highlight any five ways in which the construction of railways was important to the people of Nigeria.<\/p>\n

\nANS: <\/strong>(i) Borno traded with North Africa through what was known as the trans-Saharan trade and got its foreign exchange earnings from it;
\n(ii) Islam which became the dominant religion in Borno came through the trade;
\n<\/span>(iii) Borno major cities such as Ngazargamu, Kukawa, and Dikwa developed along the trade routes;
\n(iv) Borno markets became the places of exchange for Central African and North African and European goods;
\n(v) A class of rich long-distance traders emerged in Borno, etc.<\/p>\n
\n(b) Describe any four processes involved in producing iron implements in pre-colonial Nigeria.
\nANS: <\/strong>(a)
\n(b) (i) First, the iron ore is searched for and collected from pits and Quarries;
\n(ii) It was put in furnaces and heated to obtain the pig iron and slag;
\n(iii) The pig iron is further smelted and cut into smaller sizes;
\n(iv) The smaller piece is heated in a red-hot charged fire in a Furnace etc.<\/p>\n
\nANS:<\/strong> (i) States and Empires formed alliances. They gave military support to
\none another in time of need thereby maximizing the strength of the\u00a0 armies;
\n(ii) They made marriage alliances and took partners from neighbouring states to ensure peace and harmony;
\n(iii) To safeguard themselves from kidnappers from neighbouring states, people made sure they did not travel alone or in small groups;
\n(iv) Individuals sought the protection of powerful rulers or warlords;
\n(v) The people attacked would-be slave raiders, etc.<\/p>\n
