The Lagos State University (LASU) invites all Graduands, Parents\/ Guardians, University Community and the General Public to the 22nd Convocation Ceremonies to hold on\u00a0Wednesday 23rd May, 2018 at the\u00a0<\/span>University Auditorium Complex, Ojo.<\/p>\n The activities of the 22nd Convocation Ceremonies which is the crux for today\u2019s gathering i.e. Press Briefing is as states below:<\/p>\n Day One \u2013 Thursday, 17th May, 2018<\/p>\n Convocation Cup Competition for Staff<\/p>\n Day Two- Friday, 18th May, 2018<\/p>\n Jumat Service<\/p>\n Venue: University Mosque, Ojo,<\/p>\n Time: 1:00pm<\/p>\n Day Three \u2013 Sunday, 20th May, 2018<\/p>\n Special Thanksgiving Service<\/p>\n Venue: University Chapel (Chapel of Light), Ojo, Lagos<\/p>\n Time: 10:00am prompt<\/p>\n Day Four\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Monday, 21st May, 2018<\/p>\n Coconut Breaking Festival<\/p>\n Venue: Badagry Gate Entrance,<\/p>\n Time: 9:30am prompt<\/p>\n Command Performance by the Department of Theatre Arts and Music<\/p>\n Convocation Play: –<\/p>\n Time:\u00a02:00pm<\/p>\n Day Five \u2013 Tuesday, 22nd May, 2018<\/p>\n Convocation Lecture Topic: Role of Education in Promoting Social Cohesion and Peace: Opportunities and Challenges for Nigeria\u201d<\/p>\n Convocation Lecturer: Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, Executive Secretary\u00a0National Universities Commission.<\/p>\n Chairman of the Day:\u00a0Former President Olusegun Obasanjo<\/p>\n Venue: University Auditorium Complex, Ojo<\/p>\n Time:\u00a02:00pm<\/p>\n Day Six \u2013 Wednesday, 23rd May, 2018<\/p>\n Award of First Degrees and Diplomas in all Faculties and Induction of Alumni<\/p>\n Venue: University Auditorium Complex, Ojo<\/p>\n Time: 10:00am<\/p>\n DAY 7- Thursday, 24th May, 2018<\/p>\n Award of Higher And Honorary Doctorate Degrees and Conferment of Rank of Distinguished Professor<\/p>\n Time: 10:00am<\/p>\n Venue: University Auditorium Complex, Ojo.<\/p>\n Ahead of the Convocation Ceremony of Lagos State University (LASU), the management of the university has directed all Graduands\u00a0to pay the sum of Ten Thousand Naira [N 10,000.00] only, into designated bank below: Third Party\u00a0Invitation cards, Notice and Convocation Package will thereafter be issued on the presentation of receipt of payment.<\/p>\n Note: A refundable fee of Two Thousand Naira (N2,000) only will be made to graduands on return of the Academic Gown.<\/p>\n Academic Gown should be returned immediately, after the Ceremony OR latest by\u00a0Monday, 28th May, 2018, after which the refundable fee of Two Thousand Naira [N2,000:00] only, will be paid to graduands at the Bursary on the presentation of clearance, obtained at the Faculties;<\/p>\n Any graduand who holds on to the academic attire beyond “Monday, 28th May, 2018”, will be liable to a fine of Five Hundred Naira [N500:00] only, for each day of default.<\/p>\n Also, any graduand who loses OR damages the academic attire would pay a sum of Ten Thousand, Three Hundred Naira [N10,300;00] only as replacement fee.<\/p>\n Postgraduate Graduands [Ph.D Only) are required to pay a sum of\u00a0Thirty- Five Thousand(N35,000:00) Naira only, into the above account number for procuring the University Academic Gown.<\/p>\n First degree graduands are to move the tassels of their caps from right to left at a point during the ceremony, when the Vice Chancellor declares; \u201cI admit you all\u201d. This signifies their admission into the body of Graduates of Lagos State University (LASU).<\/p>\n Higher degree recipients should put on their caps, with the tassels placed at the left hand side, since they already have their first degrees.<\/p>\n ALL graduands should seek the assistance of Faculty Officers to ensure that the hood and cap are properly worn, with the tassels (cords) of the cap positioned to the right.<\/p>\n Female graduands are expected to show courtesy when they shake hands with the Vice-Chancellor, while male graduands bow, but should NOT remove their caps.<\/p>\n Parents \/Guardians and Invited Guests are advised to be seated NOT later than 9.00 a.m. on each day.<\/p>\n (Graduands Should please read the following carefully)<\/p>\n Graduands are to Join the Convocation Procession by 9.30a.m. Graduands in each Faculty are expected to be seated in the sections provided for them in the University Auditorium Complex.<\/p>\n The Convocation package comprising: Unauthorized movements and taking of photographs will not be allowed during the Convocation Ceremonies.<\/p>\n Graduands are therefore advised in their own interest to complete such activity before coming into the University Auditorium OR wait till after the ceremony.<\/p>\n Any graduand who leaves his\/her seat while the ceremony is on will NOT be allowed to return to the Auditorium.<\/p>\n This is to ensure Orderliness during the Convocation Ceremonies. Graduands and invited Guests under the canopy outside the Auditorium are requested to be orderly and rise to their feet as the Academic Procession enters AND leaves the Convocation venue.<\/p>\n Graduands should be properly robed; and are also advised to conform to the colour prescribed for their Faculties.<\/p>\n All graduands are required to immediately commence and complete the process of their clearance in their respective College\/Schools\/Faculties before the ceremony, in order to facilitate the collection of their degree certificates on the day of Convocation.<\/p>\n
