Prince Uche Secondus has been in the news following his election as chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Nigeria at the PDP national convention 2017 which took place at Eagles Square, Abuja.<\/p>\n

Where is Uche Secondus from in Nigeria? <\/strong>Mr Uche Secondus was born and brought up in Adoni, a town and local government in Rivers state.<\/p>\n

He also completed his elementary and secondary education in Rivers State before going further to attend the London Chambers of Commerce Institute where he obtained a certificate in Commerce.<\/p>\n

Uche Secondus Family<\/strong> – Prince Uche Secondus is\u00a0 married to\u00a0Ene Belema Secondus. The union is blessed with children including daughter\u00a0margret tariah who recently got married to\u00a0Abel Tariah.<\/p>\n

Political Career – <\/strong>Uche Secondus joined\u00a0politics during the Second Republic in 1978. He served as Rivers State Youth Leader of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) and Rivers State Publicity Secretary of the National Republican Convention (NRC) between 1993 and 1998. With the return of democracy in Nigeria in 1999, he returned\u00a0as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers state where he went on to serve two terms.<\/p>\n

He was later on elected\u00a0Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party on\u00a01st September 2013. He was eventually made the acting\u00a0National Chairman of the party following the resignation of Adamu Mu’azu as the Party’s Chairman in 2015. He held the position only briefly before\u00a0Ali Modu Sheriff and\u00a0Ahmed Makarfi.
\nWhen he held sway as the PDP chairman in Rivers state, he was nicknamed the Total Chairman<\/em>.<\/p>\n

What is the Meaning of Total Chairman name given to Uche Secondus?<\/strong> Explaining how Secondus came about the moniker, a chieftain of the party in Rivers recalled how the Andoni-born politician was firmly in control of the party when he was at the helms of affairs in the state’s PDP – \u201cHe was totally in charge. He gave no room for dissidents to rock the boat of his leadership. He was always ahead of those who plotted to disrupt his reign. He was on ground in all the real sense of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

From being the \u201cTotal Chairman\u201d of the ruling party in Rivers, Secondus, who at the time was heading a nationally renowned group within the PDP known as the G84, moved to the national stage when he emerged as the South-South Coordinator for the PDP National Campaign Council that organized the campaigns for the party during that year\u2019s general elections in 2007.<\/p>\n

Prince Uche Secondus was also the pioneer Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, February 21st 2017, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC arrested Uche Secondus for allegedly illegally receiving 23 luxury vehicles valued at N310 million from controversial businessman, Jide Omokore. He was interrogated and subsequently released on bail. Later on in April 2017,\u00a0Justice James Tsoho of a federal high court sitting in Abuja declared as unlawful, the arrest and detention of Uche Secondus. The court went ahead to award a\u00a0N10 million damages against the EFCC.<\/p>\n
