{"id":37758,"date":"2017-07-08T23:26:32","date_gmt":"2017-07-08T22:26:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unn-edu.info\/?p=37758"},"modified":"2017-07-08T23:26:32","modified_gmt":"2017-07-08T22:26:32","slug":"noun-graduates-can-go-nysc-attend-law-school-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unn-edu.info\/2017\/07\/noun-graduates-can-go-nysc-attend-law-school-now.html","title":{"rendered":"NOUN Graduates Can Go For NYSC, Attend Law School Now"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">NOUN Graduates To Begin NYSC &amp; Law School.<\/h2>\n<p>Graduates of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) are now eligible for mobilisation by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and qualified to attend the Nigerian Law School (NLS).<\/p>\n<p>This was as a result of the\u00a0adoption of a report by the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund on the \u2018Bill for An Act to Amend the National Open University Act Cap N6 LFN 1983 (Amendment) Bill 2017\u2019 by the lawmakers at the plenary on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The amendment was passed immediately.<\/p>\n<p>In the report, the Senate panel stated that the amendment to the National Open University of Nigeria Act was to bring the institution at par with the regular universities in the country.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-36843 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/unn-edu.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/noun-national-open-university.jpg\" alt=\"noun\" width=\"474\" height=\"258\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The report said, \u201cThe objectives of the bill are as follows: firstly, to amend the existing legislation with a view to removing the perception of the public about the university in respect of the word \u2018correspondence,\u2019 which gives the impression that the university is not a full-time university and, as such, seen as part-time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese two concepts \u2013 correspondence and part-time \u2013 significantly affect the way the public views the programmes\u200b run by the university. This has been the reason why the Law graduates of the school are not admitted into the Nigerian Law School as well as the reason for the non-inclusion of the graduates of the university into the National Youth Service Corps scheme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecondly, to include information and Communication Technology as another means of providing tuition towards the advancement of learning throughout Nigeria. The National Open University, as currently run, depends critically on virtual learning and students\u2019 individual research, hence, the need for improvement and introduction of helpful learning tools as presented by lCT. This will further deal with the challenge of limited access in the tertiary education sector.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"&hellip; <span class=\"entry-comments\"><a
