2017 WASSCE Results Released in 60 Days as Planned – WAEC Official

WAEC Results 2017 Released 60 Days After Exam.

The authorities at the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) office has kept to their promise of releasing the results of this year’s West African Senior School Certificates Examination (WASSCE) in 60 days.

Following the conclusion of the o’level examination for 2017 May / June school candidates on Monday, 15th May, the result was subsequently released on Monday, 17th July, 2017, just over sixty days later.

Reacting to this development, the Head of WAEC Nigeria National Office (HNO), Mr. Olu Adenipekun, said that it is one of the steps being taken by the council to meet its mandates of delivering quality service to all stakeholders.

He said that all hands at the office was on deck to ensure that the innovation, tagged: ‘Project 60’, was effective this year.

“For sometimes now, we normally use about 90 days, from the day of the last paper of the examination to release the result but since I assumed office as the HNO in Nigeria, we have been working to reduce that ‘waiting period’ by 50 per cent.

“This is what initially brought about what we had also called ‘Project 45’ but we want to take it gradually,’’ he said.

Adenipekun added that council was hoping that in the next two years, it would be able to release results of its examinations within 45 days after the last paper is taken.

The official urged candidates to be patient with the WAEC result checking portal as the management is working round the clock to get the website running at full capacity to reduce the stress on candidates trying to check their results.

The West African Examinations Council has over the years developed a team of well-trained and highly motivated staff and has administered examinations that are both valid and relevant to the educational aspirations of all its member countries.

Its certificates enjoy international recognition and the exam body has also been promoting the ideals of hardwork and honesty in the youth through its awards for outstanding performance in its examinations.
