WAEC Relases May/June 2016 WASSCE Results.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has finally released the May/June 2016 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results.

Announcing the release of the results at a news conference in Lagos, the Head, National Office of the Council, Mr. Isaac Adenipekun, said that a total of 1,552,758 candidates registered for the examination, out of which 1,544,234 sat for the exam.

In a breakdown of the results, a total of 1,393,907 candidates, representing 90.26 percent have their results fully released while 158,718 candidates, representing 9.74 percent have a few of their subjects still being processed due to some errors mainly traceable to the candidates and schools in the course of registration or writing the examination.

A total of 878,040 candidates, representing 52.97 percent, obtained credits in five subjects and above, including English Language and Mathematics.

The results of 137,295 candidates, representing 8.89 percent are being withheld in connection with various cases of examination malpractice.

The HNO added that there was a significant improvement in the performance of candidates when compared with the results of 2014 and 2015 examinations as the percentage of candidates that got 5 credits and above including English Language and Mathematics in the WASSCE for candidates in 2014 was 31.28 percent while the percentage of candidates that got 5 credits & above including English Language and Maths in the WASSCE for candidates in 2015 was 38.68 percent.

Adenipekun further stated that candidates will be able to check their results on the Council’s website within the next 24 hours.
