AFIT Kaduna Pre-HND, PGD Admission Form 2017/2018 is Out

AFIT KADUNA DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSIONS INTO PGD/HND/PRE-HND PROGRAMMES AND ADMISSION SCREENING INTO ND PROGRAMMES FOR 2017/2018 ACADEMIC SESSION

The Air Force Institute  of Technology is a higher education institution engaged in imparting knowledge and skills to students using specialized facilities and multi-disciplinary approach; a centre of excellence for serious innovative research and development for the aerospace, aeronautical, aviation and allied industries/disciplines.

Admissions into programmes offered in the Institute are open to the general public. Traditionally, admission into the Institute is gained through the JAMB UTME entry route. However, admissions could also be gained through direct entry into any of the Institute’s programmes other than the National Diploma programmes.

To this end, applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for preliminary and direct entry admissions into the following programmes in the 2017/2018 Academic Session:

a.     Pre-Higher National Diploma (Pre-HND) Programmes.
(1)      Aircraft Engineering Technology (Airframe/Power Plant Option).
(2)      Aircraft Engineering Technology (Avionics Option).
(3)      Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology.
(4)      Purchasing and Supply.
b.     Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes.
(1)      Aircraft Engineering Technology (Airframe/Power Plant Option).
(2)      Aircraft Engineering Technology (Avionics Option).
(3)      Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology.
(4)      Purchasing and Supply.
c.     Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes.
(1)      Aerospace Engineering (Aeromechanical Option).
(2)      Aerospace Engineering (Avionics Option).
(3)      Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

3.     The Pre-HND in Aircraft Engineering Technology Programme is a one-year orientation course specifically designed for candidates with ND in engineering fields other than aircraft engineering. The programme is meant to introduce students to aircraft engineering and also provide a good foundation for such students to further their studies in aviation related programmes.  Similarly, the other Pre-HND programmes are aimed at appropriate re-orientation as the case may be.

4.     The PGD in Aerospace Engineering at AFIT is a one-year programme that is specially designed to prepare candidates for one-year MSc programme in aerospace engineering at Cranfield University, United Kingdom (UK). Candidates, who on completion of the PGD programme, wish to enrol for the Masters Programme at Cranfield University, UK can choose to specialize in one of the following fields:

a.  MSc Aerospace Vehicle Design (Airframe and Airframe Systems Option).
b. MSc Aerospace Vehicle Design (Avionics Systems Design Option).
c.  MSc Thermal Power.
d. MSc Computation Fluid Dynamics.
e. MSc Flight Dynamics.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

5. Candidates seeking admission into AFIT’s ND programmes are required to write JAMB UTME examination. Those intending to pursue Pre-Higher National Diploma (Pre-HND), Higher National Diploma (HND) and Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes would be offered direct entry admission if they meet the entry requirements. The entry qualifications for programmes offered in AFIT are as detailed below:

a.       National Diploma (ND) Programme – Aircraft Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology and Explosive Ordnance Technology.
(1)    JAMB UTME cut-off pass mark and pass in AFIT’s post-JAMB UTME screening and;
(2)    Minimum of WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NTC/NABTEB with at least a pass in English Language and credit passes in 5 subjects in not more than 2 sittings. The subjects must include Mathematics, Physic, Chemistry and 2 other subjects from Additional Mathematics, Biology, Geography, Statistics, Technical Drawing, Auto-Mechanics and Metal Work or,
(3)    Credit passes in an NBTE recognized Pre-ND examination in English Language, Mathematics and 3 other relevant subjects listed in Paragraph 5d(2) above.
b.       National Diploma (ND) Programme – Business Administration and Management.
(1)    JAMB UTME cut-off pass mark and pass in AFIT’s post-JAMB UTME screening and;
(2)    Candidates should possess a Minimum of WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NTC/NABTEB with 5 credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and 3 other subjects from Economic/Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Statistics, Geography, Agricultural Science, Government and Biology or,
(3)    Credit passes in an NBTE recognized Pre-ND examination in English Language, Mathematics and 3 other relevant subjects listed in Paragraph 5d(2) above.
c.       Pre-Higher National Diploma (Pre-HND) Programmes.
(1)    ND with a minimum of lower credit pass (CGPA of 2.50) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/|Electronics Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Material Science Engineering or Business Administration and Management (as applicable) and;
(2)    A Minimum of one year post-ND cognate work experience.
(3)    In exceptional cases, a candidate with ND at pass level (CGPA of 2.0-2.49) who has 2 or more years of post-ND cognate work experience may be considered for admission into the Pre-HND programme.

d.       Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes.
(1)    ND with a minimum of lower credit pass (CGPA of 2.50) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/|Electronics Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Material Science Engineering or Business Administration and Management (as applicable) and;
(2)    A Minimum of one year post-ND cognate work experience.

e.     Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes in Aerospace Engineering.A minimum grade of Second Class Honours in Engineering, Material Sciences or Physics.

f.      Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes in Supply Chain Management. A minimum grade of Second Class Honours in Purchasing & Supply and other related fields.

PROCEDURE FOR DIRECT ENTRY CANDIDATES

6.      For a successful application, direct entry candidates are expected to complete two basic steps below:
a.    Payment to e-Bills Pay.
b.    On-line Registration.

7.      Candidates should visit any branch of commercial banks, ask for Air Force Institute of Technology on e-Bills Pay platform and specify the appropriate programme (Pre-HND, HND or PGD) to make payment. Pre-HND and HND/PGD candidates are to pay N4,000.00and N5,000.00 respectively with the required bank charges. After payment, the bank teller will give a printout which would be needed to proceed with the online registration. The 2 numbers included in the printout are:
a.    Receipt Number.
b.    Confirmation Number.

8.      Having been assigned a Receipt Number and a Confirmation Number by the bank, candidates should visit the AFIT website (http://www.afit.edu.ng) and click on the ‘Verify Payments (Pre-HND, HND, PGD)’ Link. Select the application form applicable to you (Pre-HND, HND or PGD), and insert the Receipt Number and Confirmation Number obtained from the bank. After verifying your payments, click on the ‘Resume Registration’ link to resume registration.

9.      On the registration form, candidates should fill in their bio-data and other relevant information (post-secondary information, employment history), upload their passport photographs as required on the page and continue (Note: The candidate’s phone number is his/her identity on the portal. Therefore it is important to provide a valid phone number). Thereafter, candidates should upload the necessary documents (e.g. Degree/ND certificates, etc) as required on the page. Proceed further to print your Photo Card for a successful application. The Photo Card contains candidates’ basic identity information and would be required for confirmation of application for admission into the Institute

PROCEDURE FOR ND PROGRAMMES CANDIDATES

10. For a successful application, ND candidates are expected to complete two basic registration processes as explained below:
a.  Payment to e-Bills Pay.
b.  Admission Screening Bio-Data Registration.

11. ND candidates should visit any branch of commercial banks, ask for e-Bills Pay in respect of Air Force Institute of Technology NDprogramme and make payment of the sum of N2,500.00 with the required bank charges. After payment, the bank teller will provide a printout which contains the information required to proceed with online registration as follows:
a.    Receipt Number.
b.    Confirmation Number.

12.    ND candidates should visit the AFIT website (http://www.afit.edu.ng), click on the ‘Verify Payments (ND Only)’ Link. Insert the Receipt Number and Confirmation Number obtained from the bank. After verifying your payments, click on the ‘Resume Registration’ link to resume registration.

13.    Having completed the steps above, proceed to the Registration Page to begin data entry on the online form. Data such as bio-information, SSCE/GCE/NECO results, JAMB score, etc should be filled. Thereafter, candidates should upload their passport photographs which should not be more than 1MB in size. The size of such uploaded picture will be validated against this requirement.  Therefore, candidates should ensure compliance.

14.    After the successful upload of pictures, candidates should proceed to print their Photo Cards. The Photo Cardscontaincandidates’ basic identity information and would be required for confirmation of application for admission into the Institute.

CLOSURE OF APPLICATIONS FOR ADMISSION

All applications for admission will close on Tuesday 5 September 2017.  Successful candidates would be contacted via SMS and also published at the Institute’s website at the appropriate time.  Therefore candidates are advised to provide valid phone numbers during registration.  Candidates are equally advised to visit the Institute’s website from time to time for important information after successful registration
