Apply for Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship – Nigerian Students 2019.

The Embassy of Japan in Nigeria is organizing MEXT scholarship programme for Nigerian students. Nigerian students are invited to apply for the following categories;

  • Research Students: Post graduate students who wish to conduct research in Japan for PH-D/Master’s degrees or non-degree course in respective fields. Applicants generally must have been born on or after April 2, 1984 (under 35 years of age).
  • Undergraduate Students: Students who wish to continue their studies in Japanese universities for undergraduate degrees. Applicants generally must have been born between April 2, 1997 and April 1, 2002.  (between 17 to 22 years of age).
  • College of Technology Students: Students who wish to study in Japan as students at a college of technology, Mechanical/Electronic Engineering, etc. Applicants generally must have been born between April 2, 1997 and April 1, 2002. (between 17 to 22 years of age).
  • Specialized Training College Students: Students who wish to study in Japan as a student at a special-ized training college, Technology, Business, Fashion, Culture, etc. Applicants generally must have been born between April 2, 1997 and April 1, 2002 (between 17 to 22 years of age).

How To Apply:

Interested candidates can visit the Embassy of Japan to pick up application forms. They can also download form from>> http://www.ng.emb-japan.go.jp/culture.html

Completed MEXT scholarship application forms can be submitted by hand or by post to the;

  • Information and Culture Section,
    Embassy of Japan office,
    No.9 Bobo Street (off Gana Street)
    Maitama, Abuja (PMB 5070, Wuse, FCT).

Please note that applications forms for the current exercise is clearly marked – (2019). Applications made with the 2018 forms will, therefore, not be processed by the Embassy.

Deadline: The closing date for submission of all completed application forms is June 8, 2018; applications not received on or before that date will not be processed.
